[For whatever reason, Yukari is out and about today. For the most part, everything seems pretty normal.
But then something unexpected happens. While passing by a group of people near a beverage stand, she overhears one of the people talking. And his voice will sound familiar.]
I'm sorry, how much is that again? All right, here's 250 yen.
[It sounds...well, a bit different, but that's due more to the tone. It sounds like it has a little more emotion, but otherwise, it sounds almost exactly like, well...
[On Sunday, Yukari makes a point of seeing her once senpais, as there's no reason for them to live together anymore. Akihiko's usually away on some match or training regimine, and Mitsuru is usually busy working, but they make the time if she asks. This week, though, she's alone in the lazy, summer afternoon, window shopping, winding through standalone sellers, debating on going into the café or if she should take the train back to the dorm...
She's just about to walk away from another crowd when she hears that familiar voice, and freezes, looking, searching. She'd know the voice of her leader, the one who died for them, anywhere-
It's not him.
But she doesn't look away, staring as several emotions flitter over her face, unguarded.]
[Eventually, it happened. It was only a matter of time before a witch showed up on military property. But Mami wasn't the only one who had fought it. This mobile suit had entered the fray and proved a capable ally.
Of note was the design of the head and the glowing green "A" on the chest. This marked it as a Gundam, and only members of the Asuno family had Gundams. Flit, the patriarch, had made a name for himself in the last war as a pilot of a Gundam.
But Mami sustained an injury during the fight, and lost consciousness. When she regains it, she will find herself in what looks like a medical ward. Sitting in a chair near the bed is a young man she has met once before.]
[The world becomes clear again, and the first thing that comes to mind is pain. She hurts and aches all over, but there's no injury anymore. She knows that for a fact. She heals faster than most others in her position; it's part of her wish, after all.
To live.
The second is that she's not on the ground, but elsewhere, in a ward of some kind. She sits, slowly, but still far faster than someone really ought to after the predicament she was just in. She scans the room, and it's not long before she spots Asemu.
She remembers he showed up when she was fighting, as the world teetered on its transformation for the witche's laments. She hadn't had time to explain then, but despite her urgences, he had stayed. Even longer than necessary, it had seemed; she figures he was the one to bring her here.]
I'm sorry to have worried you. [She half smiles.] I'm grateful that you brought me here after its defeat. I am fine, however.
[Ike is no stranger to dealing with people in positions of power. He knows that a lot of them will work themselves to the point of it being unhealthy (at least the good ones do), and so he's making Driselle take some time off so she can rest. And he was doing that by taking her to the nearest shoreline so she could finally see the ocean.
It was a trivial matter to get a carriage for the day, and for now, they're still en route. They're almost there, though.]
The driver said it should take two hours tops, so we should be almost there by now.
[Even with Ike's insistance, this morning, Driselle had still sat down to sign a few things, look over this and that, oh, she should also send a message to the market, and something to the government, and...
It was Rowen who had to push her out the door and politely decline to let her take anything with her.
This is well earned break, Lady Driselle. You should make the most of it.
Which was how Driselle ended up being handed some lunch in a picnic basket and ceremoniously denied entry to her own house. Not that she took it badly; she was more amused than anything, and touched, that she had so many people looking out for her and taking care of her.
Besides, the sea... the sea!]
Truly? [She smiles warmly.] Thank you, Ike, for arranging this. And for being my... chaperone. [She says chaperone, but they both know what she really means. Formally, yes, he's a chaperone, and he'll protect her should there be any trouble. In reality, a friend, who's stood by her the past few months, and arranged something to take her mind off business. And she can't thank him enough for that.]
[It's time to go clothes shopping! If Milla is going to spend time with Ky, she needs more than just one set of clothes. So right now they're in a clothing store, in the women's section.
...And worth noting is that Ky is avoiding looking at certain parts of the store.]
[To Ky's credit, he made a very compelling case about buying more clothes. She can't stay in these forever, and she should try to adopt the styles here.
Not that Milla's ever purchased or chosen her own clothes, you understand.
This is probably going to be a very long afternoon.]
I never expected there to be so many different variants on clothing. [Wouldn't it be easier to have one design for everything? Ah, humans. Strange, wonderful humans.] Where do we start?
[And in true Milla style, she strides off towards the rack of tops and begins to rifle through them.]
Strange. Is this the anticipation of choosing something that you're about to purchase? [She pauses to marvel it, before continuing the rifling with more speed, only giving each top a fraction of a second before she moves onto the next. She seems to be missing the point of choosing something rather than just looking.] Wow, the book was right. It is intense.
[Well, Minato's stuck doing his own thing for awhile, off with his band of friends to go save the world. But their group still wasn't ready to accept either Milla or himself yet. Honestly, saying the Lord of Spirits and the Overlord of Hades showed up in your dorm room randomly one day was not a convincing line of dialogue, even if it were true. So for now, Valvatorez and Milla were stuck waiting in Minato's room.
...Well. For a short while. These two really are impossible to keep down.
Valvatorez rifled through one of Minato's bookshelves, pausing to consider the titles of some of them.]
My, the lad certainly has quite an eclectic set of books, doesn't he? I'll wager that these are quite a trove of knowledge about human life. You must be very happy, given how much of a shine you've taken to them.
Still, this room is dreadfully boring and dull. We should find something to do, though the human world is quite different from when I was last here. Do you have any ideas of what we can do to pass time, Milla?
[Only Valvatorez would think asking Milla for ideas about killing time was a good plan.]
[The lack of acceptance from Minato's friends was troubling. With the amount that Minato and his friends were involved in, was it really so hard to believe that perhaps he would be visited by higher beings from other worlds? Apparantly so.
What was more insulting was the instruction to stay in Minato's room.
As wonderous and full of treasures as it was, it had its limits. And, more importantly, she had been looking forward to a guided tour of the human world. (This guided tour not agreed to by Minato, of course, but since when did that stop them from deciding what their host should provide them with?) Even the bed had lost its appeal and Milla was now laid on the floor, arms wide, feet propped up over the side of the frame. Books are haphazardly thrown around her at the point she lost interest, or moved onto the next one. Bored, bored, bored.]
Yes, however... there's only so much information you can gain on human rituals without putting it to practical use. And I would have hoped he was here to explain some of them... the details were incredlibly lacking. [Your host points are going down, Minato.] ... or, at the very least, given us an activity to engage in whilst he was away on business.
[Not that she can't entertain herself, bu she already thought of coming here in the first place, Minato was supposed to provide after that. But Valvatorez is right: this room isn't fun anymore.
As such, she pulls her legs down and sits upright in one fluid motion.]
There was one thing I read about that we could try. If the book is correct, you only need two people. If he won't teach us, we will have to find out for ourselves. [She nods thoughtfully to herself.] When in the human world, Valvatorez, do as the humans do.
[It didn't, but her intepretation is something the writer has no control over.]
The activity was called a date. It does not, however, involve the food. [Unless you want it to but there was a brief period of time when Milla wondered why humans were so concerned with taking a piece of fruit on various outings. Ahem.] Two human parties go together to a location of their choosing. I believe it is used to determine romantic interest in another party, and to find a suitable mate to produce offspring. Of course, we need not focus on that.
[Because one Milla and one Val is enough for any universe, let alone tiny versions of them.]
[ for him, it had been almost a year since he had even thought about the Havens. He had arrived back home in time to help Aoba and the others infiltrate Platinum Jail, stopped Toue from mind controlling the entire population of Midorijima, and got everything back in order. He didn't really have time to think about all the things that had happened back in the Haven's, and it hurt to think of the others he had met there, too.
but sometimes he would see things. Like that one time he was sure a dragon flew overhead when he was walking down Aoyagi street. Or that time he thought he heard someone calling him - someone that definitely wasn't from this world. but those were just fantasies, and he would always brush them off in the end and go on with his life.
today was different though. when he saw her in on the other side of the road, that strange creature bobbing at her side, he knew that it wasn't just his imagination. ]
Elize? [ it's muttered at first as his mind processes what's happening. as soon as he realizes that she's really standing there, looking frightened and obviously lost, koujaku's running across the street to get her; his voice louder now: ] Elize!
[For Elize, it's been a few weeks since she last saw Koujaku. Time was always strange in the Havens, but for her, it was enough that she had picked herself up resolutely and charged head on into doing things, to visiting places and making new friends and becoming someone better.
It didn't really make her feel better, not really. It helped. But it didn't fix the holes in her heart left behind by those who had gone, even if the cracks were filled in. Being left behind... it's one of her greatest fears. She wanted to see Koujaku again, she really did, but she knew it wasn't likely. So she put that thought aside, to look at wistfully, to wish for, but one that she didn't think she'd attain.
Until today.
Today had started out fine until she woke up and she wasn't in the Havens anymore. It looked a little like Ikebukuro, but she'd been nowhere near it, and now... just where was she? She clasped her fingers together, tight, trying to think her way through this, as Teepo shuddered alongside her-
That's when she hears Koujaku. Her eyes go wide, deer in the headlights. For a second she feels as though she's dreaming, that she was always in a dream and the past minutes or hours aren't real.
But that's most definitely Koujaku, as she looks over and sees him running towards her calling her name.]
Koujaku? [She only manages a few steps before she's there and he's there and she's holding onto an arm, because she's still short and you're so tall but it's the best she can do to make sure she's not imagining things. And, still addressing the arm, as she slowly looks up-] You're really here...!
WHERE DID MY FUCKING NOTIF FOR THIS GO??? where god dammit
[ he mutters half-assed apologies as he pushes through the people constantly crowding Aoyagi street, moving as quickly as he can toward the familiar young girl and her strange companion. a part of him thinks, too, that this is just a dream - another strange figment of his imagination; and when he gets there, she will have vanished.
but it doesn't happen. no. she's touching him, and she's speaking. ]
Elize...! [ he exclaims, breathing heavily from that adrenaline fueled sprint across the streets. ] How did you-- [ actually, hold that thought. this whole talking down to her business just won't cut it. koujaku bends down, scooping elize into his arms and hugging her to his chest, shifting so they can be (relatively close to) eye level. he's smiling. like... smiling like a fucking idiot and not even caring who might see the display as he finally finishes his thought: ] How did you get here? I thought that... [ well, he thought a lot of things, but maybe he shouldn't mention them. ] Ah... that's not important, is it? It's good to see you again.
[It's a store the likes of which Rikku has never seen before. It seems to be similar to a hobby store, but the shelves are all lined with boxes of machines. Humanoid machines. All have varying levels of detail, and there are numerous styles to the various machines. They also appear to require assembly on the part of the buyer. Some kits are of clearly the same machine, but all have different variations, such as size or complexity.
Meanwhile, Yuuki has entered the store with the intention of buying a new Gunpla kit. He can't live up to his title by remaining satisfied with a single model, after all. He pauses when he sees Rikku looking at kits, and perhaps looking a little lost. He approaches.]
Ah, are you having difficulty picking a kit to buy?
