[As ever Aurora is as Aurora does - Hogwarts is dark with flashes of colour but not so her; her dress is gold with yellow trim to match the crown atop her head and her long pink hair is streaming behind her like a banner. Half-blooded Gryffindor girl even though the red clashes horribly with her hair as Cordelia pointed out.

Of course both her stepsisters are Slytherins.

The castle is ever so dull really when she has to keep Igniculus hidden away for such silly reasons and there are far more interesting people she's met in the forest (like Finn and Robert, not that people know about them because Norah hates anything resembling a mouse ever so much.) So that's why she's always running off here to visit friends.]

Gen? Dearest Gen my merfriend. [Perhaps not a perfect rhyme but she's running barefoot and trying not to slip in the wet grass as she skids to a halt with her toes curling over the banks of the lake.] I have toast for our host! [So you know pop up before she throws toast on your head because that'd be rude and so she doesn't plonk her tootsies on your head because hey, this is what you do at a lake even if the water is frightfully cold.]

[ Hello friend Gen is here, surfacing in a spray of greenish water. Since they last talked she's found some poor Slytherin's lost scarf, and is wearing it wrapped around her waist. ]

You brought toast? I am glad. Here's nothing but weeds to be had. [ HAND OUT GIMME. It's not been the same since the rule forbidding throwing sweets to the giant squid. At least he shared. ]

Tell me, Aurora, how is school?

[It looks better on you than a Slytherin but Slytherins are frequently cruel, even her dear sisters who sometimes pretend not to know the Gryffindor that likes to run around barefoot. She does wrinkle her nose because sorry Gen, sometimes the water - at least the top layer - gets a bit whiffy as she shields herself.]

I do think it was dreadfully cruel - the banning of sweets at the lake, what a silly rule. Oh the corridors are patrolled by such a horrid ghoul! [Peeves why you gotta play that way? Oh and look she even made sure your toast has butter and jam!] Well charms cause me no alarm but I do end up with such sore arms! Potions ends in major commotions but unlike divination it is not a source of great frustration. History is a great big bore but Binns never seems to hear me snore. Flying, I would assume, is much more fun without a broom! [No one is surprised that Aurora spent many years with a pair of glittery wings that fluttered themselves insisting that she was a fairy, no one is surprised at all.] Mondays I learn to fight the dark arts and Wednesday midnights I look to the stars.

But shorely [ssh fish puns are always relevant] Gen living here in this lake, it really must take the cake! With all the many selkies or is it merrow? And the squid, always such a charming fellow!

[ scronf scronf scronf as Gen demolishes the toast. The other merpeople hate it, but she's all but addicted to the food from Hogwarts' kitchens. ]

If you want, I'll take you below. The squid's better than some ghoul or ghost. [ whoops she's covered in crumbs hang on. ] Why do you hate divination the most?

[Gen you should really wait like half an hour before you go swimming but maybe merpeople are different, she should check next time she's in the right class to ask. It might be odd to ask Gen who isn't exactly like the other merpeople in the lake.]

We stare at leaves left from bitter tea but the things I see, they trouble me. [In truth she sees better when she stares down into fountains but she's never known what to make of it - only Igniculus alone knows and she never sees anything good when she looks.] Oh and all the horrible smelly smoke! Gen if you were there I'm afraid you would choke! [Actually you would because you know land but wow if you could smell that room Gen you'd hate it.] But enough of school and dull words, tell me Gen how is your world?
