a lady friendship i did not know i needed until now

[Claudia has something of a reputation.

She is loud, focused, and as some would say, bossy. She knows what she wants and she gets there with ease. There's a reason she's a prefect - if anyone can single handedly swoop in and disarm (figuratively and metaphorical) a group of partying Gryffindors after hours, it's Claudia.

There's also the fact that if any of the male population of Hogwarts mistreats her, they usually have to answer to her brother. That helps some.

But once you get past all that, Claudia is fiercely loyal. Right now, as she inspects a letter she's penning to her older brother Federico, there's just her and two other girls, both asleep. Well, and her snowy owl, gifted to her by her younger brother, which she pets absently with one hand. The knock and the following question, then, is for her to answer.

Her owl looks up, but does nothing else.]

Si, signorina. [She smiles, bemused.] If you're not put off by the rumours, then I have no complaints.

I don't pay much attention to rumours. Thanks. [ Relieved, she smiles awkwardly back. Bossy and loud are things Lightning can deal with, after years of being dragged around by Amodar. But since that particular self-proclaimed best friend graduated last year and left her high and dry and distinctly aware that she's been neglecting pretty much everyone else in her House... well. She can only bury herself in keeping boys away from her sister for so long. She tucks her suitcase away under the seat, and sits down with a sigh. ]

... Oh, yeah. You heard the prefect meeting's in the front car this time, right?

[That's a rare find, because Hogwarts has its own reputation in regards to rumours. They spread like fiendfyre and are quickly distorted into something unrecognisable but are still believed, as ridiculous as they become.

It's usually when you stop chasing away boys that one might find their way in. Spoilers Snow is probably talking to Serah for the first time right now.

Claudia doesn't return to writing her letter, instead tickling the owl under its chin with the end of her quill, half-watching Lightning sit down across the carriage. She knows who she is, of course, it's hard not to, really, both being prefects, both being Gryffindors a bit more keener on rule following (hence the prefect thing), but she nods.]

Ezio overheard something along those lines an hour or so ago. [Gotta love eavesdropping.] Hopefully I'll have time to complete this before it begins... [She indicates the parchment. Not that she minds if she doesn't; she isn't in any rush. Despite his faults, Federico appreciates long letters from his little sister.] ... if not, then, after the welcoming feast.

[ she'll find out after the Welcome Feast and hex him into next week. Literally.

It occurs to Light, belatedly, that she knows Claudia better than she remembered. Prefect osmosis, or living in the same tower for years. That sort of thing. Whatever the reason, she at least knows who Ezio is, and remembers that she has older and younger siblings outside of Hogwarts. Score one. The sheer size of Claudia's family is alien to Light, given that her house during the summer is just her and Serah. ]

Make'em wait if you need to. If there had been anything important, we'd have gotten owls over the summer. [ Plus she tends to disagree with the Head Boy. Oh well. ] Which brother're you writing to this early?

[It's not difficult to know the other members of your house and other prefects distantly, but well is another matter. She's not against the more, though. Lightning has always been agreeable, from memory.]

We shall see. [She smiles, briefly, before continuing,] My elder brother, Frederico. He finished at Hogwarts two years ago, now; he works at one of the wizarding banks, and was not able to return to us over summer. [Which was a shame, because neither was their father.] Ezio forgets to write, so I have to do it for the both of us. [See what she does for you, Ezio.]
